Stealth Charity

I just read that Bill (and Melinda) Gates are responsible for saving hundreds of thousands of lives and improving countless others via their charitable Foundation.

It occurred to me that buying Microsoft products is an indirect way of contributing to the fight against disease and poverty. Go ahead, buy that Xbox 360 you've been dreaming about. :)

Rockson The Obvious

I had 5 more pics of humans made out of bread but they were too icky so I deleted them.

The latest post by Rockson is so full of vitriol and fired so many broadsides at the gahmen that it would be an idiot who didn't realize he is a gahmen plant. A honeytrapper for disgruntled citizens. The moment you stick your head out with a supportive comment, you're marked. Dead man walking.

Let's Hear It For Durai! Hip, Hip, Hurai!

This is an unrelated picture of bread. Some people are sick.

On the hot-again topic of NKF, looks like a lot of people are kicking Durai after he's down. Figures.

He's got no face left. I think the witch hunt is going overboard now. I'd rather go after the other charity CEOs, who should be quaking in their sandals.

Cuckoo Swee Chiow

Can't remember where I stopped with the car pics. This beaut here is a Dodge Charger. Or maybe not. I don't know American cars. :)

Khoo Swee Chiow has been getting a bit of flack for his scuba stunt. He's not hurting anyone, as Glenn Ong said. What I don't understand is, how can anyone waste 10 days of his life floating around doing nothing? Maybe if you paid me a million dollars.

Shocking Betrayal

Dorian Yates.

Yesterday's 'The Biggest Loser' had a shocking ending when Ryan stabbed Lisa in the back. They had a pact with the last woman (can't remember her name) not to vote for each other. I assumed that meant Mo was out.

Ryan reasoned that he had to break the girls' partnership while he had the chance. Otherwise it might end up 2 against 1. Very smart guy.

Don't Go To JB

Are these women? Ewww...

A Singaporean was attacked by a parang-wielding robber in JB on Sunday. I would like to remind Singaporeans not to tempt fate. JB is a dangerous place. Don't go there.

Sideways

Just watched 'Sideways' last night. Quite a good comedy. Paul Giamatti is actually 1 year younger than me.
That's him in 'Sideways'.

That's him as Sergeant Hill in 'Saving Private Ryan'.
He was also the voice of Timmy the gate guard in Robots.

Birds & Taxis

Sergio Oliva.
Some interesting letters in yesterday's Today. Lim Boon Hee pointed out that birds may now be a hazard in view of bird flu. I've always been irritated, nay, incensed by birds crapping on my car. Now I have reason to call for mass culling of birds. WIPE THEM OUT!
Steve Ngoh on cab-drivers who ask for your preferred route. He says there's no such thing, only the shortest way. He's obviously never been a taxi driver. The drivers who ask you are the honest ones, who don't want any trouble. A shorter route can still cause an argument if the passenger doesn't think it is.

Selective Globalization

Terence Chong wrote in Today that Singapore cannot afford to continue with its policy of selective globalization if it wants to be a global city. He brought up 3 examples to support this: Fridae.com, political freedom (or lack thereof), and Warwick University's U-turn.

As for the lack of political freedom, I don't like it myself, but that's the way things are in Singapore. There are many more pros than cons to the situation. Afterall, if you don't like it, leave. I'm staying. Besides, the money is good. I'd join the gahmen if they asked me. Hehe. Warwick University? What's that? Who cares?

What I take issue with is Fridae.com. As Terence says, the majority of Singaporeans are happy with the gahmen line on deviant behavior. It is deviant in Singapore because most Singaporeans feel it is so. The gahmen represents (we hope) the majority. Globalization should not be used to pry open the doors to hell. See how Europe and Australia burn from their liberal policies. Let us learn from their mistakes and not repeat them.

Australia Under Siege

Seems to be a lot of negative publicity about Australia lately. We've known for a long time the negative aspects of Australia. The high burglary rate, especially in Perth. Large numbers of drug addicts (who commit the burglaries). It all boils down to being too humane. Being too soft on crime. I think I can safely say that those who have been victims of burglary or other crime will stop supporting this stance (most of them, anyway).

After the hanging of the drug trafficker, we read that 2000 people attended a memorial for him. I'm sure most of these 2000 have not been victims of crime.

Now, race riots in Sydney. Just like in France, the police have been slow to take the gloves off. Criminals and lawbreakers understand only the mailed-fist. It is time for zero-tolerance.

I was thinking of going to Perth this year. But I may have to think again.

That's Ronnie Coleman, 8 time Mr Olympia. Wow.

Me - Timeline

This was me about 20 years ago.

Also about 20 years ago, studio portrait. Nice head of hair then.

Less than 10 years ago. Balding.

Today, not so bald. Like the shirt?

Flux Redux

This is Marton Csokas who acted as Trevor Goodchild in Aeon Flux (pic 3).
Pic 1 - Celeborn in Lord Of The Rings.
Pic 2 - Guy De Lusignan in Kingdom Of Heaven.
Pic 4 - Yorgi in xXx.
Pic 5 - Nah. That's Franco Columbo. Nice lats, huh?

Too PC

Some police officers in San Francisco are in trouble after making a video parody on police work. It was meant for private viewing at a retirement party but somehow got leaked. Now the mayor and the police commissioner are baying for blood. Stupid idiots.

I just saw the lip-synching video of the Numa Numa song. It's really silly.

Oh, dear. Also saw the copy of the copy by Singapore's Thickest-Skinned Individual, Mr Steven Lim. Get your barf-bags ready! http://www.stevenlim.net/SingaporeIdolStevenLimWeb.wmv

Promiscuity

Awesome muscular density.

I watched part of 'Tab TV' 2 nights ago. As a man, I quote Blackadder's physician: 'Just means more rampant totty for us real men'. As a father to an 8-year-old girl, I wring my hands in despair and fall to my knees in prayer. I hope that God will help me to impart proper values to her.

In case you didn't watch it, a popular female blogger (names have been withheld to protect myself) confessed on primetime to being promiscuous. Maybe not confessed, more like proclaimed. Sigh. I'm not condemning anyone or anything. I just fear for my daughter.

Watched Aeon Flux yesterday with the free tickets I got from BBTZ. Not too bad. 2.5 to 3 stars. Charlize Theron is beautiful and has a real bod. Wow, dig her 'nightie'.

Public Housing Whitewash

I don't envy the HDB PR guy who has to write such rubbish in the papers once in a while. Oh, I'm sure he's paid very well. Hope he can sleep at night, though.

Yesterday, in Today, this guy again explained why HDB is 'losing' money in 'subsidizing' the sale of flats. I'm afraid Singaporeans aren't going to fall for that line much longer (except those who buy Ipods and Osim).

We know that land for public housing is acquired by the URA, for peanuts (meaning very little, in this case). They then sell it to HDB at market value. Therefore, when HDB totes up the cost of the flats, it's very high. They can then claim to be subsidizing public housing. However, if you factor in the real cost of the land, the truth is obvious.

Of course, I'm not advocating the HDB sell flats at true cost. The profits would then accrue to the lucky buyers when they sell. I'm just asking that they (HDB) be honest about things. We're used to being milked left, right and centre. What hurts is the lying.

Incosiderate Oaf

This inconsiderate idiot was parked like this for 2 days. Attending some sort of wedding. He's taking up 6 lots! Where are the stupid parking wardens?!

The big guy is Maurice (or Mo).

More Pics From BBTZ

Matt.

They wouldn't allow me to sit on the Police bike. I've often wanted to be a TP. There are so many law-breakers I want to take down. Maybe a second career?

Big Boyz Toyz

Went to Big Boyz Toyz exhibition at the Singapore Expo yesterday. Debated a bit before forking out $10 to go in. Didn't look very interesting from the outside. As it turned out, it wasn't. Not a total lost cause, though. I got a goody bag and won a watch from One Motoring. And a pair of tickets to Aeon Flux. Woohoo! Still the lucky draw to go. First prize is a car. You can be sure I won't be going to the next one, if there is one.

Dave Out

Just watched 'The Biggest Loser' whilst munching on some Margeret River chocolate. De-lish! Dave got kicked out despite losing the most on his team. A lot of betrayal and back-stabbing going on.

Have been busy playing Civ III the last few days. I know, it's real old. But I decided to give it another go before buying Civ IV. :)

This is Lizzeth.

Stupid SIM Registration

I was wrong. The gunman in Washington sounds Hispanic.

Tried to register my prepaid SIM card 3 times this weekend. Failed because the shop assistant said the system was busy. Bloody hell. What lousy organization is this? If you want people to register their SIM cards, make sure they can. The person responsible for this tardy service should be shot, drawn and quartered.

This contestant is Lisa.

Some Australians are still trying to save that Vietnamese drug-trafficker from the gallows. This is a clear example of a vocal minority. I'm sure most Australians (who are sick of being soft on criminals) would be happy with the death penalty in Australia. Only criminals would be against it.

Death Penalty!

Police officer Sharon Beshenivsky was shot in cold blood in UK. She was unarmed. Now the Brits are calling for the death penalty. How many more people have to die before people wake up? Again, race was not mentioned. Wake up!

This is the other Kelly.

There was a shooting in a Washington mall and 6 people were injured. What was very glaring in the 2 reports I read were that the gunman's race was not mentioned. In America, failure to mention race implies Black. Otherwise, they would have said White. Or Hispanic. Or Asian. Or Arabic. Bloody political-correctness again.

This is one of the Kellys. Good idea to cover up the arms. Those things are mind-bogglingly huge. Maybe as big as my thigh!

Ban Kids From Public Places

Kudos to Sumiko Tan for speaking her mind. It's not so much that kids should be banned from public places, but it's the brats brought up by bigger brats. I've seen many well-mannered children but I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that more kids these days are badly brought up. Little Emperor Syndrome, perhaps?

Frankly, many adults should be sterilized, they don't deserve to have children. The gahmen should give COEs for having children. And it shouldn't be based on money. Not all rich people are civilized.

So, what can you do when confronted by bratty kids and their obnoxious parents? Console yourself by telling yourself that these parents will be abandoned in old-folks homes in their dotage. Just rewards for failure to bring up children properly.

Side-tracking for today, the pics are of John Hurt in Alien and Hellboy. Unbelievable, huh?

Matt Out

I know, I know, this is last season's news. But it's news to us. I was very surprised when Matt was unanimously voted off last night on 'The Biggest Loser'. I guess there were interpersonal issues that they didn't show.

Gary here, is an amazing transformation.
