I feel sorry for the poor chap who got paralyzed cycling into a barrier on an overhead bridge. It's too high a price to pay. However, that should not distract us from the main issue here. Cyclists should get off and push their bicycles when using pedestrian crossings. I really hate it when I have to stop at a zebra-crossing because some idiot is cycling across. I think it would be great if some fool, speeding in a goods-vehicle, were to run down an idiot, cycling across a pedestrian crossing (wearing black, in the dark).
And on the topic of speeding goods-vehicles, the situation seems to be getting worse. I saw several of them going at 90-100km/h over the past few days. What the hell am I paying taxes for?! Bastards.

you are paying because you chose to. Stupid!!
Ever realise those European LGV actually worth more than your lousy japanese toy car? Check out their OMV against yours when free.
Oh by the way, you are employed but we are self employed! ;p haha.
i'm one of those G platers on sg roads, driving a pickup for the past 14 years, not sticking to 70km/h limit.
ironically it was my parents who decided for me to drive a G plate, for the speed limit will curb my urge to speed, while i spend many years ogling at my folks' private car.
i'm thankful to them for that decision, for i learn many things about G plate driving that private car owners will not understand thoroughly. and i'm comfortable with travelling @ 80km/h.
why? simple. my gear changes into 4th at around 40km/h. the next change into 5th is at 60km/h. you know how dragging gear can damage engines, rite?
if i have to change gears up and down due to the speed limitations and traffic conditions, i won't have my trusty ride lasting beyond 10 years. perhaps i'd contribute more to the air pollution with black smoke, since i've to stick strictly @ 70.
i for one, support the move from 50 to 70.
and, before you hurl undignified remarks at G platers, think about the same amount of black sheep among S plate drivers. even more are speeding. 1 finger points out, 4 are pointing inwards.
and, no thanks to you, for stirring up so much discrimination among singaporeans, wedging a divide between S and G platers.
i'm thankful that the bulk of my friends who are S platers, do not share your views.
go find a life, man.
In your feeble attempt to whine and cry to the goverment asking for help in something you simply disliked. shown that your what some call an "contributing expecter". When your in NS, did u expect your food delivered to your bunk just because your parents pay taxes too? Or maybe next time IRAS should make appt with you to collect the tax since your're the one paying them! Big deal. Cry more to get noticed maybe.
So now Mr Wong gotta personally bring a radar gun and camp during peak hrs to catch LGV whom are not hogging up the road like you & your kind preventing ppl from reaching home sooner just because you pay your taxes? are you implying that all LGV users dont pay taxes, eat babies for breakfast & have no rights just because they dont drive a sedan that can speed up to 100 without worrying a ticket?
Lemme remind you that qualifactions and taxes paid doesnt reflect a citizen's maturity & contribution to it's country.
What makes you think you have the right to judge LGV users like a criminal on the loose? they are making as honest a living like you are. But i bet you consider them as uneducated pigs whom are lower class ppl with criminal actions.
I belived most LGV users dont carry the disgusting attitude like yours. its no different from racism. people like you disgust me.
