I've just applied to have my Progress money wired into my bank account. I'll be getting $700 in all ($600 + $100 for SAF). Nothing to sniff at. I've told myself that I must spend this money.I've been saying that it's stupid to just give out cash like that. It would be better in the form of NTUC vouchers. Everyone needs groceries. It's also less likely to be abused.
The very people who would benefit the most from this kind of handout are the one who will either:
1. Buy a new handphone
2. Gamble
3. Drink
4. Go for a holiday
Which makes you wonder why cash. One word: Election. A bit too transparent, I'd say.
